Protecting the environment by developing real-time digital solutions for water utilities: SUEZ, a worldwide leading player in environmental services, and Magdalene, a leading telecommunication infrastructure and technology solutions provider, announced the execution of a Framework Agreement establishing their alliance to provide water utilities with state-of-the-art smart metering solutions in the UK.
The agreement paves the way for SUEZ and Magdalene to provide a best-in-class partnership by teaming up the most qualified experts in their fields to supply end-to-end smart metering solution for UK water utilities.
SUEZ has over 15 years of experience and more than 5 million smart water meters installed across Europe. With its end-to-end solution, ON'connect™ metering, the SUEZ offer covers the complete value chain, providing network planning, hardware (transmitters and concentrators), technical assistance of local teams for installation, communication network supervision, end-user support, data processing and integration with customer billing systems.
Pierre Andrade, SUEZ Senior Vice President Digital & Decentralized Solutions: “Here at SUEZ, we have experience of delivering smart metering projects not only as a service provider, but as a water operator. The integrity and reliability of our solution has been proven in many areas, with numerous benefits for the service and improved customer experience. This new alliance is fully in line with our strategy, which aims to offer our customers digital solutions that are 100% sustainable in terms of their impact on health, quality of life, environment, and climate.”
For some areas of project delivery, it is best to draw on the strength of other companies that are specialists in their field. Magdalene is a part of M Group Services, the parent company of a number of leading infrastructure service providers operating across the UK water, energy, telecom and transport sectors including Avonline Networks, Morrison Energy Services, Morrison Water Services and Morrison Data Services, the leading supplier of visual and automated meter reading (AMR) services in the UK.
Magdalene is a leader in the UK for telecommunication infrastructure, working with all major mobile telecom providers, helping them to identify, acquire, and deploy their critical sites. Magdalene also has intimate knowledge of the UK utility sector as a tier 1 services provider, offering multi-vendor network management services to clients such as Northern Ireland Water and SP Energy Networks through its specialist utilities team.
Under the terms of the agreement, Magdalene will provide SUEZ with site acquisition, design and build services to guarantee network delivery, as well as joint marketing and sales channel support through its specialist utilities team. With this new partnership, SUEZ and Magdalene are demonstrating their commitment to support the environmental and digital transition of the UK water utilities and help them achieve their ambitious goal of a net-zero carbon water supply for all their customers by 2030, facilitating efficient water consumption, leak detection and reducing energy use.
“We are proud to be working with Magdalene on smart metering. This Framework Agreement illustrates the Group’s ability to implement a truly collaborative and innovative approach with our clients and to take concrete action for a more sustainable use of water resources.” David Adams, SUEZ UK Commercial Director.
“Magdalene is delighted to have secured this partnership with SUEZ which will bring much needed competition to the UK Smart Water Metering market. The addition of SUEZ smart water metering services to the Magdalene portfolio complements the existing metering managed services capabilities across M Group Services. This agreement combines the strength of the SUEZ smart metering solution with the nationwide radio network delivery capability of Magdalene. It provides Magdalene with an experienced and trusted technology partner and paves the way for a best-in-class partnership that will deliver end-to-end smart metering solutions for UK water clients from day one.” Keith Lamport, Utilities Director, Magdalene.
